Miss Teen Trinity-Conception 2013-2014

October 20th, 2013

During the first few weeks of my reign, I've got the chance to take part in my first photo-shoot as Miss Teen Trinity-Conception with the wonderful Sabrina Jenkins, co-ordinator of the Miss Teen Trinity-Conception and Junior Miss pageants.  It was such a ball just to be able to dress up in all sorts of dresses, get my makeup on and too just let me be myself while getting the photos taken. I’m not usually one that is all about photo’s, I’m usually the one that is behind the photo, but now I guess I just have to get used to it, I swear my mom takes at least 200 picture each appearance, she loves it.

Along with the photo-shoot that I took part in, I also had my contract signing the same day. It was defiantly something exciting, just to sit down talk about all things good, and to actually write my name down, as MTTC 2013-14.

I know this journal was a short one, but I wanted to make sure that I keep in touch with all of you readers, as for you guys to know just what I was up to within the last few weeks. Thanks once again thanks for all of your support.

Sincerely,
Heather Higdon

November 8, 2013

Hello everybody, what can I say? These past few months have been nothing but a dream come true as I was crowned the 9th annual Miss Teen Trinity-Conception for the year of 2013-2014 back in September. Before I got crowned it allowed me to meet the most amazing group of girls you would ever think of, not only did I get to meet the other teen contestants, I got to spend time, and get to know the awesome junior’s. It was nothing but a pleasure to have spent the weekend with you, and I hope we will all keep in touch.

The month of October for me was a busy one, something that you will never forget. I got to accomplish a total of 8 appearances during that month. Some of the things that I got to do was take part in a walk called “The Trigeminal Neuralgia Walk”, this walk was for a lady that goes by the name of Carolyn Brown living in Cavendish. This disease is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal or 5th cranial nerve, it is one of the most widely distributes nerves in the head. TN causes extreme, sudden burning or shock-like facial pain that can last anywhere from a few seconds to as long as 2 minutes per episode. These attacks can occur in quick succession or volleys lasting as long as 2 hours. It was definitely something I was proud to be asked to take part in, and I was nothing but happiness that came across me, as I was greeted at the door, with the excitement of her family and friends, for having me there.

Another great experience I had during the month of October would be that I got to take part in the T.P Health foundation telethon. Once I arrived at Amalgamated Academy where it was taking place, I was given a sheet of information about all of the cost of the machines that are needed for the health care of all ages. I was told I would be a host, by helping naming out people that have made donations, and also every now and then give the cost information of the equipment that they would be purchasing with the money donated. I must say before I had to get in front of the camera like that, with tons of people watching I was a little nervous, just a little. Okay, well maybe a lot, but once it started up it really was nothing, it was very exciting and truly the most amount of fun.

I’m having the time of my life with being the newly Miss Teen Trinity-Conception. Having the best experience’s so far, is something I have to thank the Trinity-Conception Area for. Without all of the support that I am getting as my year will continue on, it wouldn’t be the same without you! I’m looking forward for the next few months and can’t wait to see what the rest of my reign will have in store for me.

Best Wishes,
Heather Higdon

December 21, 2014

All I can say is wow, what a busy month I have had. You wouldn't believe how many Christmas parades that I have taken part in during this time of year. And all I can say is, it has been nothing but a pile of fun, and I was so excited that I got to take part, even if the weather was just a tad bit chilly.

My hometown Christmas parade took place on the 21st of December 2013. This Christmas parade was nothing like the other. The greens harbour committee decided that we would have a night parade, it was start just about as it would get dark and run for about an hour. The night parade was the one parade that would could just go crazy with lights. I didn't get to ride in the red convertible as they said, because of the horrible snowy weather that we had. But instead I got to ride in a hatchback with the root cut out of it, it was pretty cool.

I've learnt from my first parade that I did, which was located in salmon cove, to make sure that you bundle up really warm and have multiple layers of clothing, if not you are in from so pretty big cold shivers. Haha. So from that parade on continuing to the next 5 parades, I made sure I had at least 3 pairs of pants on, 2 pairs of wool socks, 2 shirts, a sweater and even my winter coat along with my gloves.

I'm having so much fun with holding my title, and so many great conversations with people I'm just meeting. It's still hard to believe that I get to represent the Trinity-Conception area.

All the love,
Heather Higdon
