Explanation of Scoring System

Personal Introduction - Personal Introduction should be fun an upbeat. Contestants must announce their name, age, and town but other than that it's their time to get creative and be fun.  The personal introduction can include something exciting about yourself, your hobbies, why you entered the pageant, plans for the future, sponsors, anything. It's your time to shine so be creative! They will be judged on clarity, tone, pitch, and emotion.

Basic Examples: "Good Evening everyone my name is _____, I am __ years old and proudly representing the town/community of ______. " or "Hi, I'm ____________, I'm __ years old and I am from the beautiful community of____________" You can add any twists to this that you want the only stipulation is that you have to have your name, age and town included.

Interview - This will be conducted panel style, four judges. The pageant committee will develop a series of eight (8) questions to be asked to each contestant, prior to the beginning of the pageant. Each of the questions will be worth five (5) marks each, with up to an additional ten (10) marks to be given to each contestant for overall impression (per judge). Judges will take into consideration the following, when scoring each contestant: knowledge of the topic, poise, personality, articulation, emotion, tone and confidence.

Evening Gown - Contestants will be asked to bring a floor length evening gown of their choice. They will compete and be scored out of the possible 10 points per judge. They will be scored on poise, personality, confidence, and whether the dress suits them. Cutouts and above the knee slits are now allowed. Contestants will be given samples of evening gowns in their acceptance packages.

Speech - Prior to the pageant, contestants will be asked to prepare a 1-1 1/2 minute speech on the topic of their choice. Judges will take into consideration the following, when scoring each contestant: knowledge of the topic, personality, confidence, articulation, emotion and tone. Each contestant will be given a score out of 20 points per judge.

Fun Fashion Wear - Contestants will be asked to choose an outfit from their own wardrobe that most suits their personality. This can be anything from jeans to dress pants, something they consider to be fun fashion wear and show their personality. Feel free to accessorize with hats, jewelry, belts, etc.  No swimsuits or mid-riff reveling attire will be allowed.  Each contestant will also be asked to choose their own song to walk to. This song should be used to show your personality and connect to your outfit. Each contestant will be given a score out of 10 points per judge. They will be scored on poise, personality, confidence, and whether the outfit and song suits them.

Impromptu Questions - Each of the Top 5 will be asked one opinionated question chosen at random by the contestant from a bowl of questions preselected by the pageant committee. Contestants will be scored out of 10 points per judge. Judges will take into consideration the following, when scoring each contestant: personality, confidence, articulation, emotion and tone. Each contestant will be given a score out of 20 points per judge.

 

Contestant scores will be totaled to determine the names of the winner and runners-up.
